8/22 journal

"What strikes me is the fact that in our society, art has become something which is related only to objects and not to individuals, or to life. That art is something which is specialized or which is done by experts who are artists. But couldn't everyone's life become a work of art? Why should the lamp or the house be an art object but not our life? -Michel Foucault 

I  agree with this quote because to me you can find art in anything. Art is limitless, and whether it be someones life or an object art is still somewhere in it. If art was only found in objects like lamps or houses how could people in society express themselves? Society has been shaped to believe that art has boundaries and can only consist of specific topics. I believe everyone is a work of art because not every person is the same, we all like different things, come from different backgrounds and express ourselves in different ways.

    you make really good points on how could people express themselves if life wasnt a work of art. I also like when you said we all come from diffrent backgrounds and thats what makes peoples lifes diffrent and theyre art diffrent

    i agree strongly with art is limitless, that line made me put alot of thought into art and where art comes from. you have a great point by saying everyone comes from a different background and that it self is a work of art.
